Onsite Project Manager for Construction Project

My neighbor will be doing major construction in the near future – is it possible for me to hire an onsite manager to ensure the neighbor does not encroach onto my property?

For trespass and access issues in terms of workers on your property, see the “DOB and my property” thread here. Lots of good advice on that thread for the “workers onmy roof” issue. You are better off working out the terms of access and protecting yourself against liability than just barring them from the property and having to be hypervigilant.

Not only the property line, but not having there workers on my roof. Or setting up scaffolding on your property because then you are liable is someone is injured while on your property. BTW- my cousin just left and said that the project managers are very expensive.

You’re going to pay someone to sit there all day every day and watch the property line?

If you are talking about access to your property for workers to do work on theirs, there is an informative thread here that is active now. Check it out — you can protect yourself in advance, and probably should.

If you are (still) worried they will build a structure ON your property, lawyer up in advance, know where the property line is, and if they build past it, you can report it to DOB and also call your lawyer immediately to have him/her spring into action — cease and desist letter, injunction, whatever. You don’t have to have someone sit there to catch it the very second a piece of masonry first touches your property. There are remedies.

You can hire a manager for your own property but you have no right to hire someone who is expected to work on their property.
