Oil Tank removal
Hi
I’m looking for a recommendation/referral for someone to remove an old oil tank from a brownstone in Bed Stuy. Can anyone put me in contact with a reliable and licensed company? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
Brian

We had an old oil tank removed from our basement a few years ago (previous owner had long since converted to gas and we wanted the storage space). We used Milro, link below.

I’d shared the quote with our contractor, who said it was the best price he’d ever seen for oil tank removal (by half). It was between $500-$1,000.
The two guys came and were efficient about their work and explained every step along the way. They were very careful to put floor protection down, and then even swept a floor that was already pretty dirty that I’d planned to sweep myself later. Oil smell dissipated in a couple of days.
Totally worth it to get the space back!

The price is related to the size of the tank and if there is any oil left in the tank. I suggest that you send them an email with the size of the tanks along with photos. They take care of the DOB and FDNY filings. You should confirm this when you ask them for a price.

If I might ask, roughly what was the price? (and for what size tank?) Did they comply with the DOE abatement requirements? We have two right now and are looking to get rid of one.

I have a similar need. My plumber recommended:
OIL TANK REMOVAL & ABANDONMENT
9712 Flatlands Ave
Brooklyn, N.Y.11236
718-344-7779
844-311-TANK 844-NYC-HEAT

I spoke to Sal. Seems like a nice guy and gave me a reasonable price.
