Newly rebuilt bay window is STILL leaking - need help/advice

Long story short — the bay window in my parlor floor condo suffered a ton of water damage last fall because of the hurricane. Once mold mitigation was done it was clear the structure was rotten. As a result, the building contractor had to remove and completely rebuild the structure this spring (in addition to reroofing our building, and repointing/sealing the back wall). I’m about to start the interior rebuild after 10 months of construction limbo and after the rain yesterday, I discovered that the windows in the bay window are leaking. I’m devastated.

I immediately contacted the contractor who said he’s shocked the windows are leaking and suggested it might be the windows themselves. We did use the aluminum windows that were in the old bay window, but there was never visible water leaking, or dampness around the windows for the 10 years I’ve lived here. Instead, all of the water damage came from the roof. Right now I’m just trying to get as up to speed on what should have been done during installation since my interior contractor seems to think they didn’t waterpro of the windows properly.

Any advice on the proper way this should have been installed — and what would be the best way forward to truly ensure the bay window is waterproof would be super appreciated. He’s coming by in the am and the last thing I want is for it to be blamed on the windows or for his crew to put some caulk on it and call it a day.

First of all, make sure the flashing around the windows is rock solid and everything is caulked.

It’s tough to figure these things out when it is raining. Go outside with a hose and spray down particular sections and watch from the inside (assuming the framing is still exposed like in your photographs). If your framing is not exposed, it may help you to open things up. I battled a leak in my sunroom for 3 months before finally ripping down some soggy drywall and doing a series of water tests, only then did it all make sense. Good luck.

Its too hard to tell. You will want to look up top on the exterior. It will emerge on the inside bottom.
