New court decision on licensing fees?

Hi. We’re trying to work through a fairly contentious licensing agreement with a large developer. We’re homeowners of modest means so this is kind of a David versus Goliath deal and it has been extremely stressful. These guys want seriously disruptive access to our property for what seems to be relatively small amounts of money. Our current lawyer tells us a new court decision essentially backs this up. This stands at odds with my understanding of the law. Is something off here?
