What are some typical signs that your Utility Systems (Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Etc.) are in need of some maintenance?

On a more serious note, i saw like little rust formations on a pipe once, in a commercial building. Like little rusty drips. It was an iron pipe installed in the 1950s. I assumed the pipe had sweat once and condensate formed and hung on as these little rust things. It was the start of a leak.

Working in a 1950s building was the worst. Nothing had been changed, not even the massive hb smith boilers. And the mud drums on those were leaking. Most older buildings had had this old stuff ripped out already. And newer buildings had non age related issues.

I don.t see problems with electric until we tamper with the wires themselves. Then the insulation cracks.

We don’t have it in our house but sometimes i have had lights dim in apts i have lived in. Makes me nervous.

Sinks slow to drain (usually diy maintenance), mucky limestones in the condensate neutralizer, sometimes causing overflow (also usually diy maintenance), rads not pumping expected heat, and more than 12-18 months pass with no professional eyes for regular service and cleaning.
