Name that pest! Anyone able to ID what’s causing this?

I pulled some cabinets away from the wall in the basement and found a pile of this stuff.
It was also near the window frame.
This is a brick home so I guessed it wasn’t termites but I don’t know if maybe they eat wood lathe or studs?
It is a basement, half above ground, with concrete floor and drywall walls.
Aside from a couple roaches, I’ve never seen any pests down there.

Looks like Carpenter Ants. I had the same issue. They love to burrow into wood and seem pros and clearing out sandy or gritty obstacles. You may want to try keeping the area really clean and just treat it with a bug spray (find one with a narrow pin nozzle so you can get in that crack). I always saw my piles in the spring or the rainy parts of summer and fall. They will damage any wood so if you notice the piles coming back then you gotta call in the big guns. Open up part of that wall and see if there are untreated beams they are making a home in. If you have anything outside the house that they are using as a buffet, cut it down and get rid of it quickly. Good luck.

It’s definitely not brick dust. It’s piled up outside of the drywall, it just couldn’t possibly naturally pile up like that on the outside of the drywall. It’s definitely some type of pest, just don’t know what.

there’s clearly some spider stuff going on there but it looks more like just built-up gritty city dirt and brick dust, all of which would make sense in the basement of a brick house.
