Mosquito

Every time I go outside of our door I get multiple mosquito bites. What is everyone doing to deter/kill mosquitos around the stoop and front yard?

bkallday – that is exactly what it does. Wont harm any humans, animals, bees etc only mosquito larvae

dorkofwindsor: I would if I knew it would only kill the skeeters and any larvae. She is an old kook and even her tenants try to tell her that it is an unhealthy state. She doesn’t care and his a conspiracy complex. If a tree limb falls she thinks someone crawled over the fence and cut it.

my yard is pretty much unusable because of mosquitos. tried fans, sprays, removing standing water, nothing works.

bkalidy: you need to throw at night some clusters of that mosquito dunk into your neighbors koi ponds ;). maybe one of those water dissolvable bags?

Gotta admit it. I set off a bomb of Off outdoor and make sure there is no standing water. It serves well for a few weeks at a time. However my disgusting neighbor has a thing for koi ponds (about 7) and most have not working pumps so lots of still water.

I bought some mosquito granules (Mosquito Bits, I think they are called) and sprinkled them in my planters (all of the non-edible stuff). I was like a miracle!! This is the first year we’ve had nearly zero mosquitoes. (I’d been able to reduce their numbers over the years by being really diligent about not letting a speck of standing water around for more than a day or two, but they were still breeding in the planters, which have grassy/leafy things growing in them.) That said, we don’t have a lawn. I know some people sprinkle them on their lawn, but I can’t speak to that.

the only think i’ve found that truly works is a fan. we have a small one running 24/7 by the door under our stoop.
