making front door smaller,

is it possible to replace my current front door which is 84 x 36 with a new door thats 80 x 36? I am having a hard time finding a door that matches the current size.

there are makers out there who make 84″ doors and there is a company in upstate new york that makes custom doors this size at a reasonable price. I think there name was Historic Doors. i got a quote from them a few years back and it was like $2800 which is far less than i can make a door for.

i would also look at Simpson Door. They have a great website. We used to order from them through dykes. i just checked. they can do an 84″ craftsman style door for like $1500 and that was possibly stain grade. Paint should be even less.

also try rouge valley doors.

We used to modify new doors for fit and when we did that you would not know what had been done to it. But it is not worth it when you can have a door for 1500.

it is possible to close an entry down a little and do it professionally but i would first locate an 84″ door.

i can rebuild it as well (this is steve from the tinker’s wagon) but i cannot do that for what you can get a new door for.
