Looking for someone to do sidewalk shaving/grinding

Our house has been cited by NYC for a sidewalk violation (as were several of our neighbors). We believe we can correct the violation by having our sidewalk shaved down in the problem area. Does anyone know of someone who does this kind of work – I have seen it done around our neighborhood but have no idea whom you call.

what i would try is calling one of the rental companies like big sasco etc to see if they know any contractors that rent their machines and do this work. not sure if it will work, but its just a phone call.

I doubt that you’ll be able to find someone to come out for such a small job, but if you approach a mason already working on your block they might be willing to do the job for a relatively small amount.

If possible you should use a wet grinder to minimize dust, otherwise wear a good mask and do your best to protect the neighbors property as well as any cars parked nearby.

honestly i don’t know, but this isn’t that far off from a handyman or DIY job. depending on the height of the crack, you can either use a larger handheld grinder (with the appropriate diamond cup grinding wheel), or rent a larger stand-up model for a couple hours. Same concept as sanding wood, but you’re riding concrete. Call your handyman and ask.
