Little holes in wood floors

I have found some small irritations in my wood floor. I know some of them have been there for a long time, but it seems they have increased in number. Could these be from any pest, like carpenter ants or termites. I have not seen any animals. Anyone has any input?

See if you can post a photo. I hold a nys dec wdo license and that license supposedly gives me the authority to identify wood destroying insects in nys. Of course, i would be guessing from a photo. There are not only ants but wood boring beetles that leave holes. Hole size will be key but one thing we have to rely on is “frass” (poo) and doubtful you have any of that lying around in a house you are living in. rnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrn
