Licensed Plumber Recommendations in NYC

Would be grateful for a few recommendations for a licensed plumber who does good work and prices fairly for a small bathroom renovation where will be moving fixtures and installation and to connect some plumbing in a kitchen. Thank you in advance

You are right; there is a difference between a Plumber and a Plumbing Company. We grow into companies to improve. As Jane pointed out I could never imagine telling a client, especially a repeat client, that I was slammed and could not even answer let alone service them.
That is the main reason a couple of us work both behind a desk and in the field; so we can service multiple people at once. But hey, we just did all our apprenticeship, studying and testing to do paperwork, not for the love of the trade and the service.

There are a few, but honestly I’d be satisfied with someone who merely supervises the work adequately. Much of the time I see master plumbers talk a big game and then send someone who does the work to low standards and uses the excuse it’s okay because it passed inspection.

Well I’ve had the experience that licensed plumbers never touch a pipe, because a plumbing license is a license to do paperwork for plumbing jobs. I have rarely seen this process result in good quality plumbing. But I do know more than most homeowners do about plumbing, like what angle wet and dry vents should connect at, and what a good solder joint looks like, how to run a gas line to code, and where cleanouts should occur in a drain, and many other things. Outside the city, there are plumbers who have a license, and do physical plumbing work, and in many places the work is very good. In NYC I usually see laborers, who might have all their credentials, or maybe not, doing the job to low standards and then fixing only what the inspector catches, and the inspectors are not very smart or good at plumbing.

Regarding plumbers working under licensed plumber. That’s not legal and strictly forbidden. People working for licensed plumber must be on his payroll W2, and work under continuous supervision. Active licensee must have insurances. No insurance, no permits issued.

when people post recommendations, they would be best to post not only the name of the principal but also the company name. Even if they are a sole prop, they probably have a DBA. and if they do not have a dba, post their last name so all these people who think they are not licensed can look them up on the DOB website and see that they are licensed. Like Frankie. what is his last name or company name? or address? LMP’s have to have physical addresses on file as well.
