Liberty Water & Sewer and American Water Resources

Where to start ……. I read a post about American water resources in liberty water and sewer on this website several years ago – I should have listened! Just like the old article I was completely duped by liberty . They denied a water main leak claim on behalf of American water with no supporting documentation. They gave me no answers as to why. I tried to call everyone at American water, liberty and received no answers other than your plumber said it was a denial. I ended up having to hire my own plumber and pay out of pocket to satisfy the Watermain leak violation from the city
At this point I was furious and started talking to my neighbor who is an inside plumber. He said that he has heard about this happening with liberty and American water for many years and personally had 25 of his customers experience the same exact thing. They were all denied on their claims with no reasoning . I really couldn’t understand how a company like this who works under the New York City DEP could get away with this.

I started to do my own research and found many articles on the owner of liberty water (Alex Figliolia JR). To my surprise he and his father recently served jail time after being convicted of stealing millions from the MTA on a city plumbing job. How is it possible that the NYCDEP sponsored insurance company can have his company work for DEP? How is this possible? I continue to speak with my neighbor who found additional information from another Watermain company he works for. He said that liberty was fired from working with American water a few years ago after getting caught stealing and falsifying information, magically one year later they were back working with American as their number one contractor. The more I dig the more info I find and more people I find experience the same exact issues! What could be done about this? How is it possible liberty is working for the DEP? How do we stop other Brooklyn homeowners from getting taken advantage of?

My mother in law had the same exact experience with Liberty and American Water. I am not sure why but it seems like the liberty company is the only one that creates this issue. I personally had the insurance and they sent Harris Water who found a problem and repaired it no problem!

Has this been written about in the mainstream media? Call a newspaper and see if you can get them involved. See if you can locate others who have been denied claims by them and contact the ag’s office. Also, if anything begins to look like a conspiracy between these two companies, to deny legitimate claims, perhaps contact DA’s office. You might need a few people.

I wish the city would simply charge us all that much more money and take responsibilty for the water and sewer lines right to the house. Water to meter inside house.
