Lennox ductless mini, anyone?

A local HVAC firm working with Lowe’s is using Lennox equipment for ductless mini-split installations. Tempting, because it’s backed by a 12-year warranty on machinery and labor. Anyone have experience with their a/c? I know them only for furnaces and talking to homeowner friends and other installers hear only about fujitsu vs mitsubishi.

Do not purchase Fujitsu. We installed a mini split system in our brownstone for $50k. After another $25k spent on continuous repairs over 5 years, (not covered by warranty) our HVAC contractor told us not to spend another dime on it. Every time he fixed a problem, something else broke. Fujitsu was aware of all the issues and sent someone out to inspect the system. They said the system was installed properly which leads one to believe the equipment was faulty. Unfortunately Fujitsu does not stand behind their inferior product and should not be trusted. I hear Mitsubishi has a good track record but I’m interested in others’ experiences before we convert. Thanks.

Randolph- welcome detailed experience as well (monthly costs, comfort, etc) as I am looking at hyper heat as a sole source heat option . I am removing a gas steam system in a small row house and figured this would be good investment for cooling and efficient heating.

@randoplh how much does your Mitsubishi hyper heat cost in the winter in electricity… either extra per month or for the approx. over the entire winter? and for how many sqft? I’m considering if its cost effective as a primary heat source vs installing a new hot water system.

@EJR Mitsubishi equipment cost more then Fitjutsi for similar capacities. I recently spoke to a experienced HVAC installer and was told to install Mitsubishi over a Fitjutsi. He said Fitjutsi used to be good but more recently he’s got a overabundance of service calls to repair them. The low end budget option he recommended would be a Gree.

Anyone have any experience with LG spit units? I was told may years ago they use to be unreliable and everyone stopped installing them, not sure how they are now. LG’s are significantly cheaper then Mitsubishi or Fitjutsi, are energy efficent, and have built in wifi included….

if you are using the system for primary heating as well as cooling you need to make sure it can function on the coldest days of winter. this is why we went with the Mitsubishi hyper heat system, it can function down to i think -11 F.

We looked into the Ductless AC installation a few times over the years and never heard of Lennox. The top for ductless are Mitsubishi > Daikin > Fujitsu. We went with Fujitsu because its was readily available by our trusted installer and it was cheaper than the other 2. Also so happens our installer is an Elite installer for Fujitsu so that gave us 12 yrs parts and compressor warranty. Good luck on your search

I don’t have all the estimates in yet, but my interest is not based on Lennox being cheaper. Different installers have different recommendations as well about best way to proceed here.

Is there a cost difference? I have also heard Fujitsu and Mitsu are the best options.
