Leaking roof

The torrential rain that NYC experienced over the past few days made us realize we have four leaks in our roof. We have no idea how to address this, do you speak to a roofing specialist? If so, does anyone have any recommendations? All advice very welcome!

Have a great day!

I had the same issue recently… it turned out to be an expensive problem. My only advice would be not to do what I did and leave it too long. The longer the moisture stays in the roof, the bigger the problem becomes. We must’ve had a leak for a while before we discovered it as the damage was extensive. Hopefully yours is an easy fix! Good luck.

I can come inspect it independently of a roofer and can bring a thermal imaging camera with me that should lead us to the source of the leaks and can document this. If these are small maintenance issues, i can explain to you what products and materials you need to address these leaks yourself.

I am going into this as part of my home inspection business because there is a lot of non sense going on with roofers who are not fit to represent themselves with customers. I became a home inspector on the advice of a customer after i stood on the ground in her back yard and successfully located a roof leak that her “roofer” had failed to find after multiple tries. I am pursuing specialized training and certification in roof inspection and repair documentation and have managed roofing issues professionally in larger and commercial buildings.

If you go directly to a roofer, seek the advice of those on this board such as jh above and check the roofer out further. The reason i am marketing my services to homeowners is after seeing some of the roof work i have since beco ming a home inspector, some homeowners would be better maintaining their own roofs. I am in my house 17 years and am the only person who has touched my roof in that time.

You call a roofer and they’ll assess the issue. There’s some roofer recommendations on this board.
