Kitchen Range Hood Cleaning

Hi – I’m looking for someone to clean and degrease my kitchen range hood, and based on my research so far it appears most of the companies that do this work service only restaurants. Does anyone have a recommendation? Is this a handyman job? Thanks!

ok, when i was in college, i used to clean a massive one of these for a restaurant. they used to lock me in the place for an afternoon on the day it was closed.

at that time, with limited work experience and not caring or wanting to study how to do something like that properly, i would not have known what to do. the owner’s had to train me and had to provide the proper chemicals (and i have no idea what they were; i know i applied stainless steel polish at the end with a lint free cloth). Much later, a building i managed had a commercial kitchen in it and as such, in nyc, we had to hire a company to do this and they knew things about this stuff that the rest of us do not know.

this would be my fear with anyone with no experience with stainless steel and I have seen it so many times on restaurant equipment, on refrigerator doors in houses, and in elevators: Inexperienced people, in a rush to complete a job, take abrasive pads to the stainless steel and scratch it. so if you hire someone inexperienced to do this, you will have to keep an eye on them. even if you tell them they cannot use an abrasive pad, they might decide for one second it is ok and if they find one under your sink, they do it and ruin your stainless.

If it’s really vented, it’s possible an HVAC company might clean it, along with the vent it’s attached to.
