Any recommendations for cleaning kitchen exhaust duct? It goes up a floor to the roof.

cate, a chimney may be a different kind of beast. my father cleans his own chimney for his wood burning stove and when I was in college I used to clean the range hood and duct for a restaurant. as this unfolded I have watched and thought about when I used to do that but never compared the two. the range system, on the lower parts, will have grease traps and places to catch it (it least a commercial unit does) and then there is a fan on the roof. also, with commercial units, there are fire suppression system which one has to be mindful of. the duct cleaners are also probably better suited to manage transitions that may angle or turn (I have hired them to clean HVAC ducts; not sure if range vents do this) and chimneys, I think, tend to be straight. the duct cleaners come in with vacuums and very long hoses.

i see the Cunningham duct trucks around the city. the red trucks. i almost took a job with them in 1983. i thought they were nice people and am always happy to see they are still around. a lot of experience there.
