Internal stair repair recommendations?

We have a detached wood frame multifamily and I’m worried about the state of our stairs which are sagging and pulling away from the wall – I’ve called soxco stairs based on threads here but no luck getting a call back. Any other recommendations for someone who can diagnose and fix stair issues? Thanks in advance!

I had similar issues with the stair in my house and I used All American Stairs to fix it. They replaced the treads and risers and the stair is like new now. They reinstalled the existing balusters perfectly. The only downside is that they don’t do the finishing so you need to hire someone else to do that or do it yourself. Their standard tread material is red oak but you can request better options – I used rift-sawn white oak which has a tighter grain and stains well.

Hi srao26,

We didn’t use Santos to repair stairs however we used his crew to install and internal door/trim with glass highlights here on Henry St and apart from a small problem with paint that job went well however the reason I’m posting here is that while he was here we asked him to quote on repairing some missing hallway “chair rail” (not sure if it has a different name when in a hallway but you know what I mean the rail in old brownstones that is about waist height in the hallway) that was missing from a previous renovation along with some baseboard.

Both chair rail and the baseboard was custom shapes and over the years I’d tried to get it replaced without success. I happened to mention it while Santos was here installing the door.

Santos said yep we can replace that and gave me a price (small enough I don’t remember what it was).

He did an insanely good job.

Basically created a custom knife and created an exact replica in his shop and installed it a few days later.

After painting I challenge anyone to point out where the old pieces were and the new pieces started.

Highly recommend Santos.

I started calling soxco over a month ago and called again every 3 to 4 days since, never a call back. I wouldn’t use them now even if they bothered.
