Insparisk: Boiler Violation
Has anyone had this experience?
My insurance company sent CitySpec to inspect my boiler in 2012 (and many other years).
CitySpec sent me documents (which I have) showing they had filed the report (boiler passed inspection) with DoB.
Subsequently I received a violation from DoB for having no boiler inspection in 2012. And a $1,000.00 fine. I contacted CitySpec, who at some point changed their name to Insparisk, who told me not to worry about it as they had lawyers working on it. Some paperwork had been lost by DoB and Insparisk would take care of it. This dragged on for years with myriad phone calls and emails.
Then Insparisk changed their tune. They would offer me a credit for $1,000.00. This is entirely useless to me as I have never employed them, nor would I be likely to start. They had been employed by my insurance company. I started bugging my insurance broker. At first he was dismissive but now tells me there are several similar cases in his office.
Then Insparisk appear again offering me 10 payments of $100.00 over 10 months. I responded that this was acceptable. They sent me a letter to sign but the letter refers to payments which can be used “for any future services…” In other words, a “bait and switch” trick; they are merely offering credits again.
Anyone else been through this nonsense or similar?
Any suggestions how to proceed?
Thanks.

Thanks for responses.
Insparisk now say this via email:
“The General Release letter that was sent to you is for $100.00 payment to you for 10 months. There is no credit offered. You would receive $100.00 per month for 10 months. If you agree with this, please sign and return the letter, if not, please let us know.”
However, the language in the letter says the money may be used “toward future services” by Insparisk. It is not clear that it is a payment that I can do what I like with. I will sign the document but only after adding in language of my own making this explicit.

I have exactly the same issue. They apparently did not file for many people in 2012. My new insurance company has their own in house inspection/file division so there $1,000 offer for future service is worthless to me. I am asking for them to pay the full $1,000 or will take them to small claims. I still have proof of the cancelled check.

Don’t ignore their offers, take their money because you’ll need it to pay the fine.. However, it shouldn’t be a credit. I always use a third party for boiler inspections -never the insurance company.

if you have the documentation showing that the inspection was done in 2012 and also have a current boiler inspection you can bring them to the boiler division at DOB and resolve it without having to pay any fine. Ignore Insparisk’s offers.
