Indoor "waterfall" in basement
In case someone out there has dealt with this before…last week with the heavy rains I saw that our (unfinished) basement had a sheet of water coming down on the interior rear facing wall. At the same time I noticed that one paver in our backyard, the one closest to rear wall and entrance to garden apartment was much more caved in than the others. In the past this paver has always been slightly sunken in, but now it’s more than an inch sunken in, practically the thickness of the paver next to it. I see small hairline gaps between the sunken paver and the one next to it. During the crazy rain I covered those gaps and that stopped the waterfall I was seeing in the basement. Who do I contact to fix this? Is this a mason’s job? A plumber? Thanks for all your help!!

Thank you all for the advice! I think this has something to do with our back gutter. Now I just need to figure out who to call to take a look.

Check the roof line back gutters and your leaders are not clogged. That amount of water should not be running down your back wall or displacing soil against the back of your property if the gutters and leaders are clear.

We used [Interior basement protection](https://liquidrubberusa.com/products/foundation-sealant?utm_source=frm) to avoid such accidents. I heard a lot of stories like that and I knew from beginning when we started building our home what I’ll think about one of the first things.

It sounds like the ground under that area has washed away (if I’m reading this correctly.) Is the paver loose or is it supposed to be attached to those around it? You may be able to just fill the dirt back in and re-lay the paver as a temp fix, but if water gathers there for some reason you might have a larger drainage issue requiring a drain nearby.
