In-wall coax doesn't work. Who do I call?
I just moved into a new place that has in-wall coax with wall plates throughout the house. Optimum was just here and was unable to get any of them to work. There are 2 separate cables that run from outside into the walls, and none of the plates function regardless of which cable is connected to the main feed. Is there a way to diy this or do I need a pro? What kind of pro do I need?

we’ve used dave “the wireman” to re-run some coax and ethernet wire behind our walls (without breaking them open.) not sure if he can help here but give him a shot: www.davewireman.com (we used him about four years ago.)

Yep all the plates are wired, but only one has any kind of splitter behind it and there are 7 plates total, so something’s fishy. The cable guy unscrewed each plate and tested the cable itself so the plates themselves shouldn’t be the issue. I’m going to pick up a line tester from Home Depot and see if I can figure it out…

Do the plates have coax attached behind them?

j/k I am not a pro on this, but you need to find out where the break is between the Optimum’s feed to your house and the plates. It could be anywhere in between. Or the plates themselves could be faulty. Did you pull them out from the walls to see?
There are probably tools one could buy to try to pinpoint. And once you find, you have to fix the break, or pull new coax.
Good luck.
