How much to charge for a photo shoot?
So we’ve been approached for our home to be used for a photo shoot (not a tv commercial — still photography). It’s a major corporation — you’ve all heard of it — and they’re looking for “as many as 4 to 5 days.” A few days of set-up and a few days of shooting. It’s for their Christmas holiday advertising. I know there’s been discussion of what to charge for a movie shoot (and the associated “don’t do it — they wreck your home”) but I’m curious as to what people have charged for still photo shoots.

I guess it depends on how many rooms they intend on using. I’ve done small video shoots (non-broadcast, with crews of 10-15 people) in homes that ranged from 1,500-5,000 per day, using one or 2 rooms for filming, and one or two for staging, plus kitchen/bathroom access for crew. Make sure you are added to their insurance policy as an additional insured and hold on to a copy of the certificate, and make sure they have enough coverage to cover any damages. Also good to specify what they can and cannot do, how many people will be in your house, etc.
