Hire A Worker - Bay Parkway Community Job Center - (718) 600-0425

I want to share this resource for all those that may need to hire day laborers. I have been using the Bay Parkway Community Job Center for laborers to help paint, landscaping and cleaning. I was afraid to hire guys off of a street corner, so I was thrilled to find the Workers Justice Project on line. When I called the Job Center, the coordinator arranged for two men to do my job, with a written contract covering hours and pay. What a relief! I spoke to the men by phone–they showed up on time, worked hard and did a beautiful job. The whole process was a breeze. I can’t recommend this service highly enough! If you pay someone under $500 you’re not legally obligated to file a 1099. It strikes me that this service is mostly for hiring day laborers to do small jobs. Think of this as hiring a local handyman.
