Help with using DOB rules/appendices

Hello, I’ve read many threads here about patio covers and pergolas. They refer to parts of the building codes that cover these structures, including appendix and page numbers…..but I can’t find the original docs that are being referred to, to get some firm details about permits. I’ve been all over the DOB pages, the exempted descriptions, the “Do I Need a Permit” pages, and then I’m hitting a kind of registration-only subscription page.
I want to put up a removable patio cover from a kit, basically two posts supporting a plexi roof, and want to know if this kind of structure requires a permit or falls under the awning/non-egress-related-temporary-structure rubric or what.
Can anybody please help me out with a direct link? Sorry for a repetitive query, but I simply cannot find the absolute proof that everybody else is finding so easily!!!
