Has anyone changed the main beam in their cellar recently?

If yes, I am looking for contractor recommendations if you were satisfied with the work done. I was quoted 8K and I am looking for 2 more estimates. Thanks in advance.

3 years ago after purchasing our 3 story townhouse we replaced our main girder (it was original wood with brick piers). It had significant termite damage throughout the rear 1/3 of the girder. I was recommended a steel guy from this site who had done work in our neighborhood and we are very happy with his work. He removed the old girder and piers, dug proper footings for the new steel columns and installed the new steel girder, additionally he installed steel C-channels sistered to beams that were damaged by the termites as well in order to reinforce them. I believe we had a total f 4-6 C-channels installed. All of this work was approximately $7500. Well worth it and I would highly recommend him.
