Thanks, all. I’ve got Google’s WiFi Mesh system set up and three points are covering our brownstone nicely. I highly recommend.

We’re looking at mesh networks as well and the Google mesh is one of the top contenders but I read a review of the Netgear Orbi and there’s something about it that makes the signal particularly strong thru plaster and dense material — we’re probably going to go with it for that reason since we’re all plaster and lath.
If I can find the review where they mentioned this factor along with the benchmark testing they did thru the various materials I’ll post it. But the model we’re looking at is the RBK50 which is at a super low price now bc of Prime Days.

I have the google mesh system, main unit is connected at rear of parlor floor, add’t units are located at front of ground and top floor. Signal is strong through the house.

Not google wifi, but as far as mesh in a four-story townhouse goes we put in an eero system a couple months ago and it’s worked well…even reaches the cellar. Our setup is a beacon on the top floor, full eero on floor below that, and another beacon on the parlor floor. Our internet cable comes into the house on the second floor which is why we have the main eero there. The only place WiFi doesn’t fully reach for us is in the backyard, but I think this would be fixed if we changed the placement of our eeros (they are more towards the front of the house, we just don’t currently use our backyard much so haven’t needed to do that yet).
I think the Google wifi would get the job done (and is usually a better deal to buy). But we had previously used an apple airport and after apple decided to discontinue that I felt more comfortable going with a company who’s sole product is mesh routers, my thought being that they are more invested in providing updates). Also wirecutter gave eero a better review than google wifi.
