Good exterminator for water bugs / roaches in townhouse?
I hired an exterminator as soon as we moved in and they did their monthly spray and some random bait for water bugs, but it was clear they were not thorough and good… 4 months later, we still have the problem. I feel like I just wasted $500 on these people. Anyone deal with water bugs and have a successful extermination with anyone? Our place is clean, we are doing all the usual things one would do, but I still see 1-2 per week, which obviously means there are more lurking…

I can’t recommend people because I work for Brownstoner but just want to mention an alternative approach to monthly spraying: (1) seal all cracks/plumbing/pipes/etc. where they could get in (2) make your cellar inhospitable to the bugs by making sure it is dry and cool (3) treat the cellar in targeted areas such as around the perimeter with something that kills them (such as borax) as well as — this is important — roach birth control. It exists. Obviously these last two items take expertise to do it correctly, effectively, legally, and safely.
