“Gas inspection”

Has anyone received this on their front doorknobs? It threatens $100 fine if I don’t make an appointment. Please see pics. Advice? Is this totally random or was it called in by someone as a complaint? Thanks. I will stay out of the back and forth here, and obviously different for a single family, but our 10 unit, 7 floor building got a ConEd “red tag” in December 2017, and we were without heat or hot water for 8 months, through the dead of winter, and it cost about $50,000 to get service back.

This is now mandated by the state to check for any leaks from the gas meter to the pipe leading to the street. Before you make this appt, get a plumber in to check for any leaks – have it corrected. If the gas company detects a leak, your gas is immediately shut off, you will then need to get a master plumber come in, take care of the leaks & certify. You will then need to make an appt with National Grid to come back, check & certify. You can be without gas for a week & out $1200- 1500 to get the master plumber in to correct. How do I know this? It happened to us.

They’re inspecting all gas piping now in all properties due to the gas explosions a few years back. It’s not due to a complaint or random.
