FREE! Old 5-Panel INTERIOR Doors
We collected these doors for use in our Reno and do not need them.
They are original old five panel doors, solid wood not hollow. There are five of them. Sizes are mostly 23-3/4 W x 79 in. high, one is 28 in. wide. They all have mortises and cutouts for hinges (no hardware is included). Overall good to fair shape. Sone painted one side, some varnish some bare. They will all beed work of some kind such as painting or stripping (they have what looks like birch wood faces if not solid birch throughout).
Also available are two single panel doors, 1920s, suitable for a closet or a bathroom door. These are old fir plywood and completely stripped.
They are all outside on Windsor Place opposite side of street to Howard Place , near the subway station..
I have no way to take them to Big Reuse myself — if you want them come on wheels or bring a hand cart.and rope. I am hoping someone locally with a Calder house in our row will take them as they are the original doors to these houses. But most importantly they must be gone before trash collection tomorrow.
Thank you for your interest. [23-34×79](//muut.com/u/brownstoner/s3/:brownstoner:mEbE:2334×79.jpg.jpg) [27-34×79](//muut.com/u/brownstoner/s3/:brownstoner:6qcy:2734×79.jpg.jpg)

Had you put them here sooner some of us would have found a home for them. I have the same storage issue you have except i am lucky, my landlord adjust my rental rate monthly depending on how much space i am using. Big job and twenty interior doors, i pay more. No jobs in storage, just my odd materials i pay less.
People need storage might be better looking for garages over here by me. A two car detatched garage here can run 250 a month. I pay 100 on half a two car garage with an option on more as i need.

You have been so kind and helpful in the past I thought I would post a P.S. here. As of right now they are gone. I do not know what became of them.
We are paying a ridiculous sum to keep our furniture in storage during our Reno and as this project drags on for months and months during the pandemic, extra time accruing on account to the lack of skilled tradespeople, unavailability of building materials and other reasons, it is draining our renovation budget. This is one of the expenses of doing a Reno
that is not often discussed. The storage places ask what seems a very reasonable sum for a large room (just 8 x 8 x 12 is large to a storage warehouser) at the outset, but the rent goes up every few months over time until you are paying through the nose. We are going to take some of our things back here, now that we have a floor and get a smaller room for the rest. Therefore we had to decrease our burden the best we could and dispose of items we know we won’t be needing.
We have no wheels so it did not pay for us to rent a U haul and break our backs (we are not young p eople) to keep this door collection in storage. I advertised them on several boards such as Nextdoor hoping they would work for someone locally, since there are three or four (at least) blocks of houses exactly like ours in this nabe. We hung out signs and put the doors out in front of the house hoping to attract attention, which they did. I observed a number of people walk by and take photos, one even measured the door (they were all marked with their measuements) but no one took them.
I am sorry to say I haven’t an idea what happened to the doors. I love old woodwork and I felt a little sick about this but given the economics of the situataion, we had to unburden ourselves of these items.
I am sure you know doors like this require work, especially if you want to cut the down, If you trim the sides even a little you have to recut the mortises for the hinge and the locks They have to be a good fit horizontally. The height can be trimmed just “so” much. We were able to reuse some of our collection but sadly not all of them.
Thanks for your interest.

Yikes. Are they out for the trash? In the rain?

If no one takes these, i will. But it costs me money to store stuff like this, so i would only be taking them so they are not put in the trash.
Big reuse gives a tax reciept, me thinks.
