Floating shelves in kitchen
I’m looking for someone to install two sets of floating shelves in our kitchen. We’d like to use reclaimed wood. I can procure the wood, but I need someone who is willing to work with me to get the right size, etc, Any ideas? Thank you!

Here is a good Youtube about floating shelves: https://youtu.be/aHIK8U844wE
Personally, I would find the largest thing you plan on putting on the shelf and use that as a guide to how deep to make the shelves. Hopefully not more than 10-13″.

i have put them up. so, in so far as router, i have chiseled the backs out to recess the bracket. if you do not have plywood you almost certainly have to hit studs with the brackets.
the first time i did this years ago, a customer handed me the brackets and told me to go make up the wood. once i had the brackets and saw what i was dealing with, the rest was easy. i have since hung these in a room in my house and i got the brackets (and shelves) from Ikea. that is what I would do, it go buy the brackets and start there. it will come together for you once they are in your hand. also, i would not go too much deeper in shelf depth than the brackets require because the leverage of the weight on the bracket may be a little risky. i would not think of going say full cabinet depth though maybe i am being overly cautious? 11″ or 12″? when i attached these to the wall studs, turn the bracket so where it attaches is not horizontal but ver tical.
ask questions here. but if you look at these things in Ikea, you will figure out how to form your wood, size, etc. if i can do this, so can you.

any shelf can be a floating shelf, just need a router, drill press, and proper metal bracket. if you dont have plywood backing installed behind your drywall i would be very cautious of doing this however as they will likely sag
