Fire escapes
I’m buying a 3 fam. brownstone – 3 stories – and my architect thinks I have to add a fire escape. I understand that as of 2017, the DOB no longer allows new fire escapes. Does anyone know where to find that particular ruling in the code?

” architect thinks ” you have to add a fire escape, if your architect does not know for sure, it sounds like you need to get another architect!
If it is a legal 3 family it should already have either a fire escape or a sprinkler system, if it does not have either , then it may not be a legal 3 family, but your architect should be able to easily see that from the DOB records.
