Fence takedown causing patio damage on neighbor side

My neighbor is taking down the brick wall / fence separating our properties to replace it with something else. Unfortunately I have a tile patio abutting that wall, and in the process of the dismantle some of those border tiles got completely dislodged / broken / etc.
Has anyone seen similar situation? What is the neighborly / legal thing to do?
Was I “asking for trouble” laying tiles right next to the wall (on my side of the property)
Or would it be proper for them, once they put up the new wall / fence to pay for material/labor on my side, to put everything back?
Appreciate any past experience or talking points!

Agree with @MaggieO. Your neighbor really didn’t do anything wrong and you are going to get a new fence out of the deal. A nice conversation to coordinate the next steps will yield the best result for everyone.

I wouldn’t take this to your neighbor. There was no way they could have prevented this from happening due to the fact that your tile appears to have just been dry laid on dirt. Maybe just talk to them about what they’re planning to put back so you can figure out what you’ll need to do on your side after they’re done.

A picture would help. How well do you know your neighbor? I would say work together on the project. It’s a good chance to get along better with them or screw up a possible good relationship .
