Experience with a hybrid heat-pump water heater and a gas boiler?

My 3-floor house has a gas water-heater and a gas boiler for steam in the cellar. The water heater is pretty old and I’m starting to think about what comes next. Since the basement is typically pretty warm due to the boiler, I was wondering about whether a heat-pump water heater would make sense. If anyone has practical experience in terms of how this played out I would love to hear.

A big component of this is the legality; that can GREATLY change the associated costs.

I have two 80 gal heat pump waters. No complaints.
I don’t know what ‘makes sense ‘ means to you .
It’s costs probably the same to run a gas boulder or a heat pump boiler (I haven’t done the math).
If saving energy is what you’re after then look into a bigger dual coil water tank – then you can heat water via thermo solar panels together with an indirect gas water heater as backup
