Excellent Contracting LLC

Has anyone ever work with Excellent Contracting LLC for interior renovation on a brownstone for individual apartments? I’ve had them in for an estimate over 3 weeks ago haven’t gotten a written estimate as of yet. I know that they specialize on exterior but was told that they can do the interior job also. They keep telling me that the estimate is coming but I’m starting to become concern whether or not they can really do the job. Any thoughts? Thanks

They are in the process of restoring the facade of my brownstone in Park Slope. They are almost finished (another 2 weeks or so to go) and the work they have done so far is very impressive. A lot of attention is paid to the smallest of details and they will go out of their way to insure that the job is done 100% the first time. Before choosing them I asked to see some of their other projects. They gave me a list of brownstones in Park Slope that they have done as well as a brownstone that was a work in progress. The work in progress actually belonged to my cousin. After speaking with my cousin I made the decision to go with Meraz. My cousins brownstone is now finished and looks great. I am not sure if they do interior work, but I would not hesitate hiring them for exterior work. Only problem is that they tend to be very busy lately and might not be able to schedule you in for a few months. Their prices are also very reasonable when compared to the other estimates I got.

I have used them for brownstone facade and roof work. They did an excellent job and I had no issue with anything. I am not sure if they do interior work though.

I have not dealt with this company, but here are some thoughts: A thorough estimate can take some time to write down, 3-4 weeks are not unusual. Make sure it is very detailled and includes every bit of work. It should fill about a page per floor for carpentry alone. The only way to make sure that they can do the job is to visit an active jobsite and to talk to previous customers. If THEY can’t provide you with these references themselves, just move on and get somebody else. I just checked their website and they do facade renovation. Brownstone Facade restoration is just it’s own trade, and my hunch is that they’ll just shop your entire job to a sub. At least get quotes from 2 other GCs and see how all 3 companies comapare. That’s your best insurance against disaster.
