Engineering process

When drawing plans for an alteration to an existing building, does a Structural Engineer need/required to visit the subject premise in order to draw plans to depict the existing structure or can he/she review the existing approved plans with the DOB and draw plans according to the last set of plans?
Would you please be able to provide a reference of such authority?

Thank you. The question is rather whether they are allowed to rely on the last approved drawings or they aren’t allowed and must visit the premise, and if there is reference to code about this.

Yes, if they are professionals they will usually to go to the site to verify the actual conditions and dimensions and not rely on others’ representations that may be incorrect.
