shaq, you can do this. watch some you tube videos.

in truth, this will either take you a lot of experimentation (we do it on scrap wood; i had to run 29 color samples to match something last year) or a lot of training. but you can get there.

For the sort of minor damage you’ve shown you are unlikely to find a professional who’ll do a better job than you can do with a Tibet Almond Stick and 5–10 minutes of your time. Good luck!

Thank you – I need to pay someone professional to come out and do this and am willing to consider all prices. I appreciate all the diy tips however and the company recommendation.

Tibetan Almond Stick is a great product that’s been around forever. If that doesn’t work (although I think it will) try Howard’s Restor a Finish:

Yes, i see them.

so this. i am a woodworker and long time wood finisher. yes, the job is way to small. we have to have minimums to drive around this city (mine for my on site door repair business is $225 for the first hour in brooklyn but i am not sure how long that price will remain).

i might be able to get you to where you can do this yourself so that you are “ok” with this.

i looked at the photos again. i am going to tell yo something but people will not like what i am about to say and with real wood floors, if we went to refinish them later, what i am about to tell you would cause some issues.

get a light color minwax stain marker. buy a couple of them. you will find one that color or pretty close. if you don’t think the minwax colors will work, go to abbot paint on Eagle st and look at their stain marker colors. use the stain marker. when you have the color, get some johnson or butchers paste wax (clear paste auto wax will work- sominize) and wax those spots. wipe the excess off around the wound. let it harden a 1/2 hour and buff it out. if you need more, go over it again. buff if out. you can build a little.

what i just told you is not correct because if you were to screen the floor later and recoat with poly, the wax will interfere with that coat (never put a harder product over a softer product).

if you want to try wax burn in you can. i am getting older and the real work is getting to heavy for me and was thinking of going into wax burn in furniture repair. i damaged a very expensive piece of molding in a door i was working on at a church in southampton. the trustees knew about the damage and i got a wax burn in kit and fixed it myself and they could not find the damaged spot afterwards. if i can do that, so can you. floors and light finishes are tough though. damage in dark wood is always easier to hide.

if you found the right person they can make this perfect. i am not putting my name forth because even for me it would be a little experimental. read a little about this and try it yourself.

i do know this: someone can take those individual boards down and sand them lightly to say 120 and stain them and recoat and as long as they can figure out what top coat was used, they can match them to the rest of the floor. you can probably do that yourself but getting the top coat correct is the issue. i am not always sure what these prefinished products have on them. i do not think this is worth the effort though.

also, some of those scratches in the finish, they will go away on their own as the age. the ones that went through to the wood will need help with markers.

Basic Engineered wood – floor scratched. I’m not being able to find anyone to do this small job in bk – most places I’m finding repair are in Queens and have a high minimum. It is a small area below a bed so one company is stating putty and varnish (won’t look same as rest of area) and another is quoting for a full resand. Thank you in advance!

Be very specific about good flooring place where that thin veneer is concerned.

Op. If you can post a photo of the damage i might be able to tell you what a woodworker will need to do. Some of these veneers these days are so thin they need furniture makers to work on them.

I think any good flooring place could fix the damage if it’s indeed repairable. engeneered flooring has a fairly thin layer of real wood..
