Electronic ignition systems for boiler

Hi Hi My 15 years old Weil Mclain boiler keeps giving me trouble. The pilot light keeps going out. And we got the suggestion to replace the current ignition system with an electric ignition system. I’m curious if this is the right move. or should we get a second opinion from other people. I’m afraid this change can give us more trouble. thanks for the help.

Is electronic ignition ALWAYS great? Now I have a forced hot air furnace, so what do I know? However the Brooklyn Union Gas technician who showed me how to take care of it, back when dinosaurs were still dying and adding to natural gas reserves, told me to never turn off my pilot light in the off season because the heat would dry up humidity and prevent damaging rust. My c. 1965 furnace is still going strong. To attribute that to the lit pilot light would be a logical fallacy, but still….

Did you replace the thermocouple? it is probably defective. did you see any traces of water under the boiler? if you thinking about the installation of the electronic ignition, it is always great, it will save you a few hundred dollars every year.
