Electrical estimate
Any thoughts about how much it should cost to switch out a Federal Pacific breaker panel for a new 3-phase 150 amp one?

Central ac alone will probably not get you into the world of 150/200 amps if everything else on gas – if there’s any question, one should just have a serious talk with an honest electrician about the electrical requirements in his or her home to determine.

Cannot be 3-phase, not residential. If you are ever planning to go central air, go 150A or 200.
Highly recommend Bruno Electrical, used several times & good work, reasonable, easy to work with James 718)344-2793

yeah sure — steve russo at russo electric in woodhaven. old-timey gruff but showed up on time and seemed competent. (718) 827-8175. Respected him for dissuading us from spending extra cash on 200 amp upgrade vs 100 amp seeing as every appliance that can run on gas in our house, does.

@booisgolden would you recommend your electrician? If so, I would welcome a referral! We just did the same and ours has been nothing but awful. And I still have a few follow-on electrical needs that I need to address.

Thanks all. Simple panel replacement. Got 3 estimates ranging from $800 to $12,000. (a lot of un-needed make-work in the last).

Not sure if you’re upgrading service or just replacing panel but we upgraded our service to 100amps, replaced panel etc etc, all above board, licensed electrician, inspected DOB/ConEd and paid around 2300. Was the process preferable to a vacation? No. But it was pretty painless as far as this stuff goes.
We didn’t price out 150 amps but 200 was just above 3k.
This was about two years ago. I’d add some bucks given it’s been a couple years.

We went thru the same process a few months ago. The estimates we got to replace 3 Federal Pacific breakers were $2k-$3+k. If you have to upgrade the service or replace the main pan box.. it will be a lot more and you need to get DOB and ConED involve which will take a long time. Good Luck

assuming you are just changing the panel and not modifying your service level, this should cost a few hundred dollars.
