Dryer vent cleaning?

I have a gas-fired dryer that is heating but not drying nearly as well as it used to.  I suspect that the venting pipe to the outside is partially blocked.  Any suggestions on who to call to clean it out?  I haven’t found any good recommendations.  Thanks!

Thank you very much for this thread. It’s very helpful. I have a similar problem and don’t know what to do. I will try out your proposal with USA Air Management. The prices sounds reasonable for me and if the service is also that good as you mentioned I think I will be very satisfied with their work.

Here’s how the story ends.  I did try to clean it myself as much as I could but it wasn’t enough.  As it turns out, I had already contacted USA Air Management even before I got hooky’s response (thanks hooky!).  My experience with them was excellent.  They gave me a next-day appointment, the technician was on-time, friendly, and polite.  $90 flat fee, the guy did a fantastic job, dryer works like new again.  Definite recommend!

Buy a new dryer vent kit. They’re cheap and easy to install….. Make sure the dryer itself isn’t blocked with lint.

I used these people: http://www.usaairmanagement.com/  it was so cheap and totally worth it- you should have seen the crud that they removed from my vent. And my dryer worked perfectly again after that.

How far does is the outside vent to the machine itself? You might want to try a vacuum hose depending on the distance. Keep in mind it might just be the dryer. On the other hand if there is lint buildup in the vent it is a fire hazard. Is the vent getting hot when you run the dryer? Levi Capland
