Dry well or other storm drain solutions for backyard?

During last week’s heavy rain our (very small) backyard’s main storm drain failed and the overflow almost caused the backup drain to fail, which almost led to flooding under the exterior door. We’ve had recurring issues with the main storm drain getting clogged, and it’s possible the pipe itself is damaged or non-existent.

I had a handyman-type plumber come by to take a look at the main storm drain and he suggested putting in a large dry well beneath this, with the overflow connected to the existing pipe. Any recs for someone to put this in? Or any other ideas about what to do? Ultimately I’d going to re-level the entire yard to address the water flow, but I want to make sure the storm drain is functioning properly before laying down new pavers.

If your problem is drain inlet getting clogged, is it possible you can make a bigger inlet by adding or modifying to trench drain type?

I used Frogiero Contracting to do a dry well in my backyard. They weren’t crazy expensive and did the job in a timely manner. It does seem to have solved basement flooding caused by torrential downpours that overwhelm the main house drain, so far.
