Dogwood tree problem

Hi, do any of you tree people out there know what to do about a 2 year-old dogwood tree that’s leaning over? I have great flowers but the tree is top-heavy and really leaning right now. not sure if dog woods get topped, but that one seems to be growing up awfully straight and pulling it over. maybe topping it would take some weight off the top and cause it to spread. some trees get topped as part of the pruning and others no, so check. when i was a kid i planted a row of maples in my parents back yard (i had grand ideas) and i wanted them to grow out and fat, so i topped them.

I think it probably wants to grow towards the light source. I would straighten it out by placing a pole next to it with a brace. Once it grows a little bigger it’s more stable and maybe able to get enough light
