Dog repellent for front of house

I caught my neighbor on camera allowing his dog to poop on the sidewalk in front of our house and then just walk away. I was shocked. I haven’t met them personally yet (we’re still fairly new to our house), but was disappointed to see their inconsiderate behavior. Another dog left a puddle of pee right outside our gate later that same day. I know this is not the norm – I see plenty of responsible dog owners – but I’m done letting this slide any longer. I’ve had plenty of poop left in our tree pit as well. It all stinks and attracts flies. Has anyone used one of the dog repellent sprays or have a recommendation? I’m not letting my kids be greeted with this filth when they leave our house. I’m waging war.

The smell of blood meal fertilizer sprinkled in tree beds and other planting areas works well to repel dogs and has the added benefit of giving the plants nutrients.

The worst is the guy who picks up the poop in a bag… Then just throws the bag into the curb or dirt area around a tree. Instead of looking for the nearest garbage can. This is a psychological issue.

people love to complain about parents and kids and strollers etc but dog owners are the real jerks. my neighbors will leave the building and let their dog pee on the planter right in front of the apartment building door so then everyone else has to navigate a puddle the rest of the day. its rude and disgusting.

Yesterday I saw a guy allow his dog to do a quick pee on my stairs, he took off too quickly for me to run outside and say something. Earlier in the week, someone left dog poop right outside the outer gate. The only thing I could think to do was spray both areas down, and sprinkle tea tree oil in the spots to either mask the smell so that the dog does not return to pee again, or maybe to repel them. Not sure it will work, but if I see that guy again, I will say something and point to the cameras installed by my neighbors. I guess it’s too hot to pick up after your dog. Too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter.

A booby trap always works well. Bugs Bunny and Roadrunner cartoons can provide inspiration. Alternatively, you can put down cayenne pepper. You’ll need to reapply it after every rainfall, but it does seem to keep the dogs away.

I downloaded, printed and laminated pick up after your dog type signs and put them around the tree pit. It seemed to stop whoever was not cleani.g around my sidewalk. When I eat a lot of Oranges, I blend the peels fine in a food procesor and spread them on the tree pit. Same with any old spices in need of disposal. Seems to help.

repellent isn’t poison. it repels. hence “repellent.” and i will talk to him. I’ll be very interested in his rationale for being a neanderthal. As George Costanza so eloquently put it – we’re living in a society! which includes not leaving dog poop on the sidewalk.
