Critters rummaging in lawn

Recently, we often find our backyard lawn digged up quite extensively in the mornings (see pic). I have reseeded the lawn a few weeks back, and squirrels rummage and dig around during the days, but since they are not nocturnal, and most damage seems to be inflicted at night, I wonder what else it could be? It could still be squirrels. They probably wake up a lot earlier than you.

Just for the fun, set up a wild life camera. We set one up here and caught a skunk in our yard.

Are there any holes in this yard work? Perfectly cone shaped holes, 5″ or abouts deep, are skunks. Maybe too late in the season for that because I think the are looking for grubs when they do that.
