Anyone know/used a place that can replace a kitchen backsplash and countertop?

@bob, thank you for reconfirming what i already think of these folks. this time i think they will be doing some cutting for me. i will report back to the op. by the way, when i told the man at ATA why i would no longer deal with the other stone guy, he was professional and just shook his head and said “that should not have gone that way” and did not deride him anymore. very impressed.

I should add that my kitchen counter job was more difficult than most because my main cabinet is the 1899 original that I had modified in the ‘70s to extend out the bottom and add an additional section, donated by my neighbor. It was not easy to slide in the granite to replace my 70s Formica. Of ATA could do that I suspect they can do most anything.

FWIW ATA Stone installed my granite kitchen counter tops a few years ago so they DO take on small jobs, or at least did back then. They did an excellent job.

i deal with stone suppliers in greenpoint. i use them to custom make saddles for entry ways. there are a heap of them in that area – east of mcginnes blvd by greenpoint ave. i am not sure if they do installation as well as i only order material. last year one of them cut a counter and back splash for my own house and i installed it but i am not sure if he does installs (and i am not really qualified to do this for pay , it is not my thing). i will not refer him around as he made a stupid mistake with something – but next week i am going to see ATA stone on Meserole. they are closed today but will be open on Monday and i will ask if they do small jobs and report back. i have met with them in the past and they are likable and competent. i also have another guy there but again am not sure if he does installs. again, i will see what i can learn when i am over there.

for small jobs like this – and what i am doing in my own house is small, it might be better to run around at these shops and look at remnants. all of them have stone on the sidewalks outs ide of their shops and these are leftovers which you can inquire about. if you go, just be aware that not everyone is open now due to covid.
