Converting toilet from 10" rough-in to 12" rough-in
Has anyone ever used an offset flange, AKA a rough-in converter that enables you to use a 12″ rough-in toilet in a location that has a 10″ rough-in waste line in the floor? In many old apartment buildings the rough-in’s for the toilets are 10″. There are few if any contemporary toilet options that fit a 10″ rough-in. I’m wonder if you used an offset flange/rough-in converter, and if yes, did it work well or did you wind up with more toilet clogs? Thanks.

As I noted, you may need to drop another +/- $80 after buying the toilet, because the default is to have a 12″ rough in included with the toilet. Call a dealer and see if you can avoid buying separately, but the “unifit” flange is virtually universal on Toto toilets, and readily available in 10″ https://www.amazon.com/TOTO-TSU01W-10-Unfit-Rough-In-10-Inch/dp/B000CO5RRU

Is that right? Their models all specify whether they are for a 10″ or 12″ rough in. I don’t see anything on their website denoting that all of their toilets can be used on both.

If you buy a Toto toilet, it does not matter. You can specify, or purchase separately, the floor flange for a 10 or 12 inch rough in. Toto toilets do not connect directly to the waste line. You install the flange, and drop the toilet on the flange.
