Construction damage from next door. What should I do?

I noticed that next door came thru my wall. I’m contacting the new owner today to report this to him. I’m more concerned about structural issues. Attaching a photo. I doubt that this is a structural issue, but it is a serious cosmetic one. Your neighbor should take care of this immediately. Most likely they are not aware their work is affecting your property. Most likely they will take care of it as soon as they are informed. If not, it might be time to contact a lawyer.

After you talk to the owner see if you can be listed as a ‘named insured’ on his policy. I’d talk to your own broker too. And take as many pix as you can – places that haven’t been harmed yet as a benchmark for eventual damage. I don’t know if you can demand an engineering report paid for by the neighbor but I’d certainly want one.

Also, my tenants also just noticed a hairline crack upstairs in one of the rooms. I have to check the rest of the house today.
