Chimney Stabilization vs Extraction

We are a 4 story, 8 family wood frame attached coop in Williamsburg. The building consists of 8 railroad apartments, 2 per floor running from front to back of the building.
There are four chimneys that are placed near the four corners of the building. In 2018, one chimney experienced a closed wall collapse at the first floor necessitating the removal of the chimney from the first floor to the fourth floor. We’ve since notices some gaps in the bricks/mortar of another chimney at the third floor level. There is talk of preemptively extracting the entire chimney, resulting in the need to renovate the four apartments the chimney runs through.
I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience with reinforcing an existing chimney running vertically through four apartments as we are searching for less expensive and disruptive options of fixing our situation.

You could call some chimney/mason experts to take a look and let you know what they would recommend to stabilize and maintain the structure and what they would charge to do it. As long as all the bricks are in place and not crumbling, and the chimney is either capped or has a good liner, perhaps all that is needed is repointing or tar.
