Caesarstone finishes?

Hi! I’m re-doing our kitchen. And I had our countertops all picked out. Only to notice that the selection I wanted for the back counter (not the island) only comes in a rugged finish. Not the more family-friendly ‘polished’ finish. Does anyone have any experience with caesarstone with a rugged/non-polished finish? Is it hard to clean? Worried about things spilling on it? Or should I move on and find an alternative color that is more family-friendly? Thanks for your replies!

yes.. Sometimes loading (and slightly hitting the countertop) in and out of the dishwasher— which is under our double-thick island— chips the quarter round edge.

The chips are only mm sized impressions within the counter rounded edge— But noticeable with close inspection.

Go for a larger quarter round radius, or another style edge completely. Our quarter round is perhaps off of a 1/2” radius, (which creates a 1/4” rounded edge) so it is very “pointy” and relatively fragile as opposed to a blunter 1” radius. (1/2” rounded edge)

@jjq, curious – what kind of impact made your edges chip? Dishes hitting it? Seems unusually fragile.

also—. look into doing double thick counters, especially if you are doing an island. They don’t actually make a double thick slab, but just glue on another 2-3” piece of stone around the edges, and polish. The double thick countertops really look nice. We also had drainboard grooves cut in near the sink cutout… no need for a drying rack now, and air circulates through the grooves so drying wine glasses and such do not leave watermarks after rinsing.

We were sold on the fact that our caesarstone countertops were chip-proof…. Forget it. the rounded edges are very fragile and have chipped around the sink and dish washer. You may want to ask the supplier about the best “chip-proof-edge” … ours is a simple quarter round and may be too “pointy” for heavy use areas…

I have white polished cesarstone and was told that I could use soft scrub with bleach on it. Works wonders on every stain and I haven’t noticed any damage to the sheen of the finish.

We have white quartz countertops in a honed finish. If I were to do it again, I’d use a polished finish, because the honed finish shows scratches and stains (even a piece of crumbled aluminum foil will scratch it and soy sauce will stain it). You can use Bon Ami or something similar to buff out the scratches and stains and get it looking decent, but it never really looks perfect. If you’re not a perfectionist, maybe it won’t bother you.

I had Ceasarstone and found it difficult to keep clean. After years of being annoyed with it I replaced it with quartz stone countertops.

find out if they can polish it for you. I have a piece that I am looking at for something in my house and it is not polished. I am going to polish it myself as I have the diamond pads (I am not offering my services here; I can do this for myself but I am not at any level to do it for anyone else). the shop i am dealing with told me they can send the stone i want out for polishing.
