Cable TV & Internet not working
Hi, With recent renovations we had all new CAT5 coaxial cable installed. time Warner has come to hook everything up and service is either intermittent or non existant. time Warner is saying that there is an issue with internal wiring. The electrician that did installation says it’s not his responsibility. Does anyone know of a contractor that specializes in cable issues? Thanks

“all new CAT5 coaxial cable installed” meaning both CAT5 (for hardwired network connections) and coaxial (which is what TWC uses)? If I were you, I’d insist that TWC get internet (and TV) working – or cancel the service. They should be responsible for getting a good (coax) connection from their outside lines to your cable modem and to your cable TV box. If you have internet (testing from a PC or laptop connected directly to the cable modem) but it’s not working in other locations (connected a router/switch to your newly installed cat5 wiring) then your problem is with the internal wiring. If you can’t get cable TV working, then cancel because it’s a waste of time & money anyway. You can get free hdtv over the air with an antenna and lots of video available online.

it sounds like you have too many splices in the wiring without having amplifiers installed …any decent internet tech should be able to fix it, and yes it is the electricians responsibility
