Cable person to clean up old cables

Hi All, I’m looking for a cable person who can remove some old, no longer used cables in our backyard and cellar. Some installers for the big cable companies will do this on a moonlighting basis but I don’t have any current contacts. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Had Spectrum cable running from pole through giant dead fire thorn bush to house and was clear could not remove the bush without removing the cable first. Specturm came and removed the cable and replaced it with new one above the bush. At same time I asked that cable in one room be rerouted. All done at no cost.

Our yard contained some old cables too and some sort of wiring under the deck. Our electrician told us that under the deck it was just old ground wires and we removed them. It was copper wire as thick as a pencil. Then called Verizon asked them to check to see if any phone cables and were still live. They showed up and said there was one live cable and two old landline cables. They would have removed the landline cables but for a tree directly underneath where they had to put their ladder. Alas they are still there.

Considering when old cables deteriorate they just run new ones without taking the old ones down, this is a pretty good racket for them! I have a number of cables spanned across my yard and I know at least a few of them are not in service, but I’m not about to start hacking them myself as much as I’d like to eliminate the pigeon poop perch. I’ll definitely ask a crew if I see them around, but I haven’t lately so also curious if anyone has someone’s number.

Go ask the crews as you see them working in your area, it may take asking a few, but eventually you will find someone that wants some extra work. So long as you do not expect them to work for $15.00 an hour plus a cold drink!
