Burnham Alpine gas hi energy efficient boiler haywire: specialists out there?

In 2010 installed a hi energy efficient boiler attached to a hot water tank that heats my entire 3 floor building. Lately it has been acting totally crazy, shuts completely off at night, turns on when its warmer and boils the place! I have reset the digital thermostat a few times but that does not seem to work. Maybe it’s the thermostat that is the issue but does anyone have one of these, know an “expert” that can help with this type problem? at the same time, possibly related, my current plumber says that mineral deposit in my hot water heater has caused a problem of low pressure which my tenants complained about. Thanks for any advice or help. 🙂

No. If you’ve got a well-functioning Burnham Alpine boiler then keep it until it dies. I’ve installed literally several hundred Burnham boilers and really haven’t had a problem until I got to the Alpine and other high efficiency models in their line. That’s when I realized the limitations in their tech support/customer service. I’m sure you’re fine. If you’re not having a problem then there is no deeper reason to consider replacing the boiler.

huh, so you all are saying I “have a bad system” . Well I did in the meantime resolve my situation: I moved the thermostat to the 2F in my building. Now everyone seems to be getting the right amount of heat. We also determined that the thermostat itself? was defective. The system was installed in 2010 and cost me 10K. Should I be thinking about replacing it and if so? what would you boys be recommending to me…..since you have such strong opinions.

Hey john… I have no love for the Burnham HE line but I am willing to troubleshoot anything,… Agree with you regarding their plain vanilla line and medium efficiency ES2 line

You’re a brave man, Errol. The Burnham high efficiency line is not up to par and receives marginal support from their own in-house techs. I only use Burnham for standard efficiency and steam boilers, which they are very good at.
